Reason Number 1: There are many verses omitted/missing/not there/mysteriously vanished in modern translations
Among the verses omitted is Acts 8:37 when the Ethiopian asked phillip if could get baptized, "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
The NIV will go right from Acts 8:36 to Acts 8:38. Verse 37 completely gone! Now this verse assures us on the doctrine of baptism, you must believe with all your heart before you are a candidate for baptism. You cannot go around dunking babies and dead people in the water! With this verse out of the way, this bible is perfect for any who believe in infant baptism.
Reason Number 2: In New Versions There have been words changed to mock God.
For example in Isaiah 14:12 the KJV reads
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
The same verse in the NIV: "How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,"
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,"
What the big deal with this is that Satan is called "morning star".....Jesus is the Morning star!
Revelation 22:16
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."
Who was it that said he wanted to be like God? ......Isaiah 14:14
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High". It was Satan!
Reason Number 3: The KJV does not contradict itself
The new bible versions have many contradictions while the KJV is pure without any flaws regardless of what the scoffers may say!
In Matthew 5:22 The KJV reads, "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."
The problem is that the bible tells us it is okay to be angry, God is angry with the wicked everyday (psalm 7:11), or how about being angry but sinning not (Ephesians 4:26), or how about when Jesus made a whip and drove out the money changers from the temple.
You see the NIV says that simply being angry would be a sin that even God and Jesus would be in danger of receiving judgement! The KJV correctly declares that anger without a cause is sin.
Reason Number 4: There is no confusion with one Bible
God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).
When we used to go to a bible study where different bible versions were used and we had to read aloud in a circle it was soooo confusing and the bibles often contradicted each other...so then it was very hard to stand on God's word when I was not sure which one was right? I love knowing that God has perfectly preserved His word in the English language in my KJV to be my final authority.
After all if you are not sure about things being translated correctly or the best way, how do you even know you are saved ...if maybe that part on redemption was not translated correctly?
I am not going to address the manuscript issue here it would take too long, but here is a short video that scratches the surface of it =)
Reason Number 5: New bible Versions question the Deity of Christ
There are many doctrines that have been slanted but here is just one
(20) |
(1 Tim. 3:16)
|
By the changing of one word a verse can be rendered ineffective in declaring the deity of Christ.
(KJV) "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: [God] was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
(NIV) "Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: [He] appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory."
(21) |
(Phil. 2:5,6)
|
(KJV) "...Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, [thought it not robbery to be equal with God]:"
(NIV) "...Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, [did not consider equality with God something to be grasped],"
I hope this gives a good peek into why I believe that the KJV is the only bible I will use for final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Again not to offend or put anyone down who does not believe the way I do =)

Interesting information on why you choose the KJV. I think the most important issue is that as Christians we spend time in Bible reading. You did comment toward the end that God had perfectly preserved His word in the KJV. My husband has a masters from a seminary and has taken both Greek and Hebrew. It is also easy to argue mistakes in KJV translation. So glad we love a God who uses many avenues of growing closer to Him. Also glad He can use the imperfections in us to make us more like Him. BTW I enjoy following your blog! I am stay at home mommy of four kids- 3 girls and 1 boy:) I love my treasures and praise God I can be home with them.
Yes, I have seen many "arguments" for mistakes in the KJV but so far have been able to reconcile all of them =)I have been to 4 different churches during our time in the military and all of which had pastor's who studied greek and hebrew yet still believed that the KJV is perfect without flaws. Thank you for reading my blog =) That is so funny you have the same number of children just the opposite sex as mines...lol =)I would like another girl now...but not sure if that's the Lord's will =)
I have a wierd question. If you want another girl then why did you sell your pink baby bath, won't you perhaps need it in the future?
I originally asked about the tracts and I admit that this post kind of bummed me out. I know you took great pains to say you didn't want to offend, but mentioning that you threw your NIV in the trash and the comments about infant baptism . . . I just feel that things like this are what turn unbelievers off to Christianity. It would never occur to me to rip someone else's version of the Bible, but perhaps I am just not as heavily invested (as I should be?)
Perhaps I'll just stick to the organizing posts . . .

GREAT post Kelly. I was thinking about buying Jeff a NIV devotional bible since he's new at this. I never realize how subtle these changes are, and thats how the devil gets us by being so subtle. I'm truly bless to have friends like you and Charlotte that keeps me growing. Love you guys :)
I wanted to save the pink bathtub but it was just too bulky and then my luck if we have another baby it would end up being a boy if I had saved that pink tub =) People differ on doctrine all the time and it is not something that I will just bring up for no good reason because I know it is offensive to people who believe with their whole heart that I am wrong and they are right. I was just answering the question about my stance on the KJV as gently as I could =) Thanks for understanding =)
I just want to add my 2 cents to address a previous post. I grew up Methodist and now that I'm older (29) and really getting to know Christ, I'm not quite sure what Bible they're reading sometimes. I was baptized as a baby and now realize that babies should not be baptized. Methodists also allow women to be pastors, which the Bible says women should not be in authority over men (1 Timothy 2:11-12). The point is: God's word is very clear and I would argue black and white as opposed to gray. I'm not to the point where I can understand the KJV (all the olden day language throws me off), but my husband is purely KJV and your post really opened my eyes to some things so I will keep trying to read it more.
So what are your thoughts on the New King James & Geneva translations? I don't think I heard them in the list he mentioned in the video.
So if the King James is the perfectly preserved Word of God in English, have you read anything or done any research on Biblical translations in other languages? I know you're not recommending that everyone learn English just to read God's Word, but I was wondering if you had studied this at all?
Thanks for posting. We've recently been discussing the bible along these lines: translations, historicity etc. We personally use the NKJ or the Geneva.

Lindsey, that is so great how God has revealed himself to you in his word =) I grew up in a church where infants were baptized and it was not encouraged to bring your bible to church! I didn't even know what bible versions were when I went to that church. One of the reasons I am KJV only also is it does not leave room for interpretation or "gray area". When the bible says women should remain silent in church or you must believe before baptism that is pretty Black and White! Grey area leads to compromise in most cases and I love having a perfect "owners manual" to refer to for any and every area of my life =) I was turned off by the thee's and thou's at first too,but now I love it so much and the other versions sound weird to me =) God Bless you as you search for the truth and draw closer to Christ!
Hi Rebekah =) Thank you for commenting =). I have not researched every single bible version so I am not sure on the Geneva Bible. I do not believe every one has to learn english to have God's words. In the the Bible (Matthew 24:35) God promises his words will not pass away! I do not believe God's word is only in Greek/Hebrew and English. Wherever men have used the Textus Receptus to translate God's word would be equally God's word. http://www.1611kingjamesbible.com/textus_receptus.html/
In the book of Acts God's word was preached in many different languages. I have not researched what languages have been translated in the same manner as the KJV. I am sure there are hundreds of languages though since God has commanded us to preach the gospel to every creature!
Hello Kelly! Praise God for your blog! There are not many out there who will take such a strong stance for the truth. I have been following your blog since you were featured on Money Saving Mom. I have been very blessed by your postings. I was very shocked and over joyed to see that you posted about going door to door evangelizing. There are not many who believe that it is a command of God to go and share the WHOLE counsel of God.
I did want to ask though about the NKJV. I understand better now your reasoning for KJV only but am curious about your thoughts on NKJV. The verses that you listed in your explanation of KJV only are the same in the NKJV translation. Also, do you see that as a salvation issue? Do you believe that if someone does not read KJV only then they can not be saved? What are your thoughts?
Again, thanks so much for your blog! Thank you so much for earnestly defending the faith!
Hi Gena =) I am glad you are enjoying my blog =) Just like I believe the Bible is black and white in every other area it, there is also no gray area with witnessing to the lost! When God tells us to "Go" that means GO! I wish I would see more and more go without being ashamed! I have never personally had a NKJV. I have read that the "thee's and thou's and ye's" have great significance in whom the passage is addressing. This is a good website on the differences =)
http://www.chick.com/ask/articles/nkjv.asp
Thank you so much for the website. I do see that there are differences in the "thee's and thou's and ye's". The question still remains...Do you believe that if someone does not read KJV only then they can not be saved?
Oh I am sorry Gena, I forgot to answer that =) No, absolutely not! You do not have to read the KJV to be saved! I got saved at Tried Stone Christian Center in Blacksburg, VA and I have no idea what bible they used! All I know is that I heard the invitation for salvation and I recognized I had not been born again and that my "baptism" as a child did not cleanse me. I knew at that moment that I wanted to trust Christ and follow Him! I know there will be thousands in heaven that may have never even heard of the KJV including Moses, Joshua and Isaiah!
Thank you so much for your response. I am glad to see that the bible translation differences is not a salvation issue.
Again, I am very encouraged by your bold stance that you take for Christ. I look forward to continuing to follow your blog!
You know what is really cool? My cousin, Andrew, filmed the video of Dr. Gipp, and the young man in the video is from my home church where I grew up! :-)
Wow, what a small world =) I really enjoyed the video I actually came across it randomly the day that I wrote this =)
