Cloth Diapering Update

So it has been over a month now of cloth diapering
 and I am officially hooked!  Last post I said how I was using a bucket to soak the dirty diapers; well turns out I had a wet bag for laundry included in the diaper stash my sweet friend gave me so I have been using that instead of soaking. I also forgot to consider the cloth diaper friendly detergent! Despite the controversy I have gone with Tide Original powder. I am washing every other day. It takes about 15 minutes to stuff and fold the diapers after washing.

My friend Alyssa gave me a book to read called Changing Diapers! It's a quick read and very informative. There are a kabillion  websites with lots of contradictory cloth diaper advice!

I have also decided it is best to line dry to get maximum use of the diapers. I got a retractable clothes line for the laundry room for a few bucks so I could have it out of the way when I am doing other laundry.
 See you can't even tell we cloth diaper once everything is put away =).

I also bit the bullet in cloth diapering my bigger solid food fed baby....well toddler. I figured if I was going to get the most bang for my buck I was going to need to put 25 month old Gideon into cloth diapers as well!

I didn't have enough diapers with the ones my friend gave me to do that though and I sure didn't want to buy any for $20 and up each diaper!  So I searched online for the best deal......Craigslist wins again! I scored 14 small diapers in case the Lord chooses to bless us with another little one! 23 medium to large diapers, 2 diaper covers, 3 trainers, 2 swim diapers, a travel wet bag, laundry wet bag, diaper sprayer for the toilet, and a roll of diaper liners. All the diapers besides 4 All in ones are Roly Poly a brand on Etsy that retail for $22 each I think. The lady I bought from was very nice she was the only owner and even gave me a demo with toilet sprayer hooked up and all. The retail value for everything I bought is about $1,000. I paid $200 for everything. We should break even in about 5 months and every wash after that is just money in the bank! The only difference in changing Gideon's diapers vs. Moses' diapers is that I put a liner down to catch the poop which work wonderfully unless their is a stomach bug going around.... =)

Marching to Zion Review

     My husband and I were really excited to watch the new documentary, Marching to Zion by independent film maker Paul Wittenberger and Pastor Steven Anderson. If you know anything about their work, you know it is going to be jam packed with scripture to prove what they are saying! We have been in many independent fundamental baptist churches over the last 9 years because of the military and personal moves. All the churches we have been in agree on one thing; and that is the Nation of Isreal founded in 1948 by the U.N. is a fulfillment of prophecy and that the jewish people are still God's people despite their rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ. May I also mention they not only deny Christ as Messiah but blaspheme him in their holy book the Talmud by likening him to Balaam and calling our Lord a bastard son of a whore who is boiling in hot excrement. Genesis 12:3 is thundered from the pulpits all across America as reason for supporting modern day Isreal. Yet I was always perplexed and troubled by scriptures like
Whosoever denieth the Sonthe same hath not
the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

     Why is it that we are expected to believe that a group of religious people who deny Jesus Christ as the Messiah are still worshipping God the Father? Do we not hold fast to the doctrine of the three in one? Did Jesus not say that He was THE WAY, the truth, the life and no man cometh unto the father but by him? And if the promise given to Abraham and his seed in Gen. 12:3 is explained in Galatians 3:16 as Christ being the seed of Abraham, then how on earth is anyone that denies Christ entitled to the blessings????This film answers so many questions and I am no longer confused about reconciling my belief that there is none another name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved and also believing that a people group who deny that Jesus is the Christ must be supported at all costs. Plus I always thought that hexagram on the Jewish flag was creepy and occultic....lol.

This film is a must watch! I know many will not even watch it because of fear of rejection from other brothers and sisters in Christ. However the fear of man bringeth a snare that I refuse to be trapped in any longer! My only negative comment on the film is during the credits the hymn Marching to Zion should have been playing in the background =)

Hooray for Spring!!

After many weeks of super cold and snow .....spring has sprung!  I have celebrated by making a burlap wreath with supplies from Hobby Lobby!  It does not look quite like the one on pinterest but good enough for me! The kids are enjoying the warm weather too =).

I also got some tulips at Trader Joes and put it on the sill in the kitchen! I plan on digging up the front yard with the kids this week too!  I am thankful for the seasons God gives us to enjoy reminds me of the song, Great is thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,
As Thou hast been,Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

(Refrain)

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own great presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

Cloth Diaper Trial

A very sweet missionary/church planters wife at our church was so kind to give me a stash of cloth diapers last Wednesday night!  Included in the stash were 8 covers and about 30 inserts. So baby Moses has been cloth diapered for one week now except the 1 time Chris changed him...lol. So far so good. I AM NOT cloth diapering Gideon because 2 year old poop is just not something I am interested in rinsing out at this time .......totally different than breastfed poop. Plus I would need more covers unless I planned on doing laundry everyday. I have been soaking the soiled diapers in a bucket and washing them every 3 days. So that would be about 10 loads of diapers a month. I estimated that at .75 a load that is about $8 extra in power and water bill combined. Costco Disposables are .19 each so about $30  a month vs. $8 a month in extra bills. A savings of about $22  a month to cloth diaper. Plus is makes Moses' butt look really fluffy and cute. .lol.
