So back to the birth story....If there is one thing I have learned with giving birth to 8 children it's that babies come when they want and how they want. I was beginning to get a little impatient as I passed my due date by 5 days and had an upcoming OB appt. where they wanted to schedule an induction after 41 weeks.....I really didn't feel like arguing or putting up a fight against the physicians reccomendations so we prayed the baby would come before my 41 weeks check up. I had tons of Braxton hicks contractions for the month leading up to the birth and was even worried a few times I might end up delivering the baby in the bathroom at Aldi or Goodwill with all 7 children in tow because they became intense while out and about in the heat with all the kids. However those contractions always went away when I got home, drank some water and laid down. On Sunday evening we were at church and sitting in the back row with probably 200 people in the building and church was extra long and hot as they had a special song service and guest preacher for the start of revival week....I thought maybe the heat and extended sitting in the same position made me feel like labor was starting but I wasn't 100 percent sure, I just wanted to go home and sleep. We got home and got the kids settled. I was in bed by 10:30 or so but was awoken every couple hours with sharp back pains with contractions and thought this must be it...I kept laying back down though because Chris was at work and wouldn't be home til 4 am or so and I couldn't go to the hospital without him there. Poor guy got home, slept for maybe an hour before I woke him up to tell him we should go get checked in at the hospital (best husband ever). My sister was able to watch the children for us and we headed to the hospital about 6:30am, got checked in about 7am and was at 6cm.
My water had not yet broken but I was having pretty Intense contractions about 2 minutes apart, I knew that bag of waters was not letting baby's head drop down and so I actually allowed the OB to break my bag of waters and a few minutes later I pushed her out =).
It really happened that fast, the nurses and OB drs cheered for me saying, "she didnt even frown", "Now, that's how you have a baby!", "your amazing". Chris went back home to pick up the kids for a visit and everyone except Naomi wanted to hold her.
My sister called and she was also on the way with my 2 nieces....so we ended having 10 kids in the room for about 30 minutes. We should be able to go home tomorrow afternoon Lord willing =). I thank God for being gracious and merciful in allowing us to deliver another healthy sweet daughter without complication.

I found your blog looking for the piano course. I look forward to reading more as well!
I had two home births. Unassisted sounds very interesting. Healthcare in my area is publically funded..
