Modest Mothering Ring Slings

10 plus years into the baby wearing game, I have never tried a ring sling before. The pastor's wife of Stedfast Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX Mrs. Romero just started her own business making custom ring slings called Modest Mothering. I love to support other mommas in their biz adventures. So I figured this would be a perfect time to try out a ring sling. I wanted something very girly so I told her I was thinking polka dots pink, purple, flowers etc.... I sent her some pics of fabric I liked and she found a great piece of fabric to meet my desires with pink hearts.
We got the slings in the mail pretty fast! I love them! Baby Mary Elizabeth is 2 weeks old now and falls right asleep in it.
Plus the best part is she can make a matching doll carrier for your little girl =).
I would highly recommend checking out her fb page called Modest Mothering to see all her cute prints she has premade or contact her for a custom sling =).

Meet Mary Elizabeth: Another Logan Baby Birth Story

This Labor Day morning Monday, September 3, 2018 at 8:33 am we welcomed Mary Elizabeth Logan into the world. She is perfect and weighed in at 6lbs 13 oz and measured 20 inches long!

So back to the birth story....If there is one thing I have learned with giving birth to 8 children it's that babies come when they want and how they want. I was beginning to get a little impatient as I passed my due date by 5 days and had an upcoming OB appt. where they wanted to schedule an induction after 41 weeks.....I really didn't feel like arguing or putting up a fight against the physicians reccomendations so we prayed the baby would come before my 41 weeks check up. I had tons of Braxton hicks contractions for the month leading up to the birth and was even worried a few times I might end up delivering the baby in the bathroom at Aldi or Goodwill with all 7 children in tow because they became intense while out and about in the heat with all the kids. However those contractions always went away when I got home, drank some water and laid down. On Sunday evening we were at church and sitting in the back row with probably 200 people in the building and church was extra long and hot as they had a special song service and guest preacher for the start of revival week....I thought maybe the heat and extended sitting in the same position made me feel like labor was starting but I wasn't 100 percent sure, I just wanted to go home and sleep. We got home and got the kids settled. I was in bed by 10:30 or so but was awoken every couple hours with sharp back pains with contractions and thought this must be it...I kept laying back down though because Chris was at work and wouldn't be home til 4 am or so and I  couldn't go to the hospital without him there. Poor guy got home, slept for maybe an hour before I woke him up to tell him we should go get checked in at the hospital (best husband ever). My sister was able to watch the children for us and we headed to the hospital about 6:30am, got checked in about 7am and was at 6cm.

My water had not yet broken  but I was having pretty Intense contractions about 2 minutes apart, I knew that bag of waters was not letting baby's head drop down and so I actually allowed the OB to break my bag of waters and a few minutes later I pushed her out =).

It really happened that fast, the nurses and OB drs cheered for me saying, "she didnt even frown", "Now, that's how you have a baby!", "your amazing". Chris went back home to pick up the kids for a visit and everyone except Naomi wanted to hold her.

My sister called and she was also on the way with my 2 nieces....so we ended having 10 kids in the room for about 30 minutes. We should be able to go home tomorrow afternoon Lord willing =). I thank God for being gracious and merciful in allowing us to deliver another healthy sweet daughter without complication.

Baby Shower 2018

I am always humbled that anyone wants to throw a baby shower for me because I hate for people to think that I need them to buy me stuff for our baby every other year, I would rather find everything at a yardsale or thrift store and not bother anyone.....but each baby either our church, or my sister, this time my mother in law insist on having a shower for me.
My mother in law, Lisa did a beautiful job decorating and catering the shower as well as hosting the games.
I foolishly had gotten rid of all of Naomi's 0-12 months clothes not believing I would ever have back to back girls!
I just asked everyone to get me some more girl clothes and diapers. Opening baby girl clothes is a lot of fun!
Naomi followed me around the entire time, she is so sweet, I am hoping her and the new baby girl will be best friends. I am so thankful for friends and family welcoming in our new baby girl! Here are some more pictures.

28 Weeks Bump!

Praise the Lord for making it to the third trimester with baby #8!! I love children, especially babies and especially newborn babies, but I am not so loving being pregnant in my 30's, the varicose veins, ankle swelling, back aches, fatigue, nausea.....I wish I could just press fast forward on life to when the baby is born...lol. I have a little less than 12 Weeks left so I am enjoying feeling baby wiggle around and went bump shopping at Ross today. =)  We really need new family pics with Naomi and so I was hoping to find some super cute dress but didn't find one that I loved =/. I will continue my dress hunt later this week.
Update I bought this dress!

SAMSUNG S9 Camera Photo Bomb

My husband and I are not ones to jump on the latest models of cell phones, we usually keep our phones til they die.......but when I saw friends and family with smart phones that have 2 cameras on them to give the focus and blurry background look I fell in love with the photos! My husband was so sweet to buy me the Samsung S9 that has the dual camera feature for Mother's Day!)

The pictures are insanely vibrant and I have also had fun with the time lapse feature

And slow motion feature!

Of course I needed to take a
Selfie with my Gently led sisters t shirt I won from the Gently Led sisters YouTube channel. By the way it's a fantastic youtube channel to encourage Christian mothers; you should definitely check it out =).

Homeschool Hustles: Thrift Shopping to Resell on Ebay

About 10 months ago I was inspired by my friend Karen Rodriguez to give Ebay another try for reselling. I had sold on ebay in the past and didn't think it was that profitable after the fees, shipping and handling so I had just sold everything locally through Craigslist or Offerup. Local sales are great for bulk baby and kids clothing, toys, games and furniture. The one thing that is plentiful at thrift stores but very hard to sell in a local market unless in large lots is adult clothing.

Ebay is very different though people are used to typing in what size, color and type of garment they are looking for and willing to even pay for shipping.  The children and I and sometimes Chris began shopping at the Goodwill Outlet several times a week for the specific purpose of finding items to sell for a profit.

Our Goodwill Outlet is only 10 minutes away and conveniently located next to Aldi, Walmart and the Farm Park so I am always over there anyway. The cost for clothing there is $1.39 per pound. The household items and toys are all $.59 per pound. With those prices most shirts are around $.70 and pants about $1.50 so even selling for $10 or so will turn a $7-8 profit.

I do charge shipping to the buyer.  I weigh the package from home with a food scale and print the label right from our printer. I stick the item in a polymailer, then I just stick it in the mailbox and wait for the mailman to pick it up each day =). In the last few months I have scaled back my shopping greatly and have only gone a few times each month instead of a few times each week. My sales earn us play money for impromtu trips to chick fil a and such, allow us to be more generous in gift giving,  and we have even used the extra money for unexpected car repairs that would have otherwise had to go on a credit card. It has been an overall fun and rewarding experience for the whole family.  The hardest part is photographing, measuring and listing everthing especially with alot of littles who apparently want to get listed on Ebay..lol.

There are tons of videos on YouTube if you want to learn more =).

Eight is Great! Baby #8 Due Aug. 2018

Phew, I made it past the half way point of pregnancy and will be 23 weeks this Wednesday!!! The official due date is August 29, 2018. I can't believe this will be our 8th baby!

Naomi still very much feels like a baby to me even though she is walking, talking, drinking from a sippy cup, fighting with siblings etc....lol. She still comes to bed to nurse most nights and takes small drinks throughout the day. I am hoping to wean her in the next few weeks!

We are not going to find out the gender again; it made labor more exciting last time not knowing! All the kids except Rachel are hoping for a baby brother because Naomi is so sassy to her brothers. Rachel says we need more girls because there are too many boys! I don't care either way, I'l take a snuggly baby boy or girl to cuddle =).
